Whoopsie.
Ever traveled to San Antonio to work in a presidential suite at a resort and the interview subject possibly has covid and bails out of the in-person interview at the last second and you wind up shooting them on a laptop in the afore-mentioned suite? This guy has.
Sweet Home Chicago
Got to do some shooting at the Joliet Prison where The Blues Brothers was shot during Blues Brothers Con. Was a crazy day.
A film, on film?!?
The last time I worked on a feature that shot on actual film was back in 2009 (Five Time Champion), right as the Red One was becoming ubiquitous. We just wrapped an extraordinary project that shot in upstate New York, using an Arri 416. I was blown away at how quiet that camera was compared to my previous experience. The follow focus motor was more noticeable than the film cruising through the mag.
I’ll be able to talk more about this once they get further along in post, but it was the same folks who created Jockey and Transpecos.
Sundance 2021!
Happy to report that the film Jockey, which we shot in October of 2019 in Phoenix, had a great Sundance premiere last Sunday and Sony Pictures Classics has nabbed distribution. Clifton Collins Jr. also received a Best Actor jury award. Q and A here.

Jockey
Spent an adventurous month at the Turf Paradise horse racing track in Phoenix filming an independent feature film simply titled, Jockey. Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar, who had written, directed and produced the award-winning film Transpecos, showed what life is like behind the scenes in the horse racing world. Happy to announce it was recently selected for competition at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival!
